BROS BEFORE JOURNOS: East coast renegade indie-rockers Ted Leo and the Pharmacists still join bills for house shows and had a live karaoke party to celebrate the release of Brutalist Bricks this month. Leo publicly bristled recently when an interviewer suggested Chris Wilson, Marty Key, and James Canty were a pick-up band, saying he'd shut down the conversation next time that happened -- not out of self-importance, but out of protest for the consistent misjudgment. ROAD TRIP: The days are growing long enough to serve the road of summertime wanderlust, and Lloyd Brown offers a wide view of the journey over the destination at the Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden. US Highway 50 and its sister Nevada star in Lloyd Brown: The Loneliest Road in America, an exhibit featuring panoramic landscapes of the yellow-lined West. Gallery hours run until 5PM.
DUDES CAN DANCE: Tuesday night is one of those nights we wish Expo Park was more like a hop than a leap of weeknight-weakened faith from our abode in Denton. Why? Disqo Disco at Fallout Lounge, where Sean Humphrey (Redsean) and others mix up personal-catwalk friendly electro-dance-funk for shimmying cool kids. 10PM until 2AM.
