12/17: Country Tunes, Charity Laughs and Holiday Burlesque

Cory Morrow at the Granada

TEXAS TIME TRAVELIN’ BLUES: Slingin’ his guitar from Amarillo to Corpus Christie, Cory Morrow knows how to give his fellow Texans the music we want. The Houston native has been belting country tunes and hustling his own records since his high school days with Pat Green, even partnering up with him for the country cover album “Songs We Wish We’d Written.” Tonight, he showcases his new groove playing some religious twang twists from his album “Brand New Me” at the Granada. Show starts at 7 p.m.

CHILD’S PLAY CHARITY LAUGHS: Tonight some of North Texas’ best funny ladies join forces under the spotlight to help some children this Christmas for Co-Op Mission: Child’s Play. Child’s Play began in 2003 to raise money and collect games for children’s hospitals worldwide.  Up-and-coming Texas singer, Becky Middleton will provide musical entertainment, while Shelly Alexis, Natalie Cox and Lucas Molandes provide the laughes – hosted by Dallas-based comic, Megan Mayo.  The evening of do-gooder fun begins at 7:30 p.m. at Opening Bell Coffee. Donations will be accepted at the door, or you can click here to help their cause.

YOU GOTTA HAVE A HOLIDAY GIMMICK: See how the Lollie Bombs celebrate Christmas spinning in aerial silks, while completing their wish lists stuffing their silk stockings with ruby lipstick. Stop by the Pocket Sandwich Theatre on Mockingbird Lane for a burlesque holiday show sure to knock your elf slippers off. The show begins at 11 p.m. and reservations are recommended. Tickets are $20.
