1/20: Comfort Zone

ALL IN THE POT: Simple, one-dish, healthy and cozy: there's a reason why homemade soup is thought of as medicine, and we say the remedy starts while you're preparing. The cooking school at Dallas Central Market offers a Sensational Soups class that could clear out your pantry of cans. Crab & Corn Chowder could become your default cold-night dinner, and Frozen Hot Chocolate Soup could be your next cocktail party surprise. Meredith Deeds' 300 Sensational Soups comes with admission to the class, which is $70. Make reserations here. 6:30PM.

IN THE WINDOWS: In all our awe, we take it for granted. The gorgeous facade of the Majestic Theatre, for instance, or the sharp, cleansing shape of the Dallas Museum of Art fades into our epxerience as we walk past. The Dallas Center for Architecture has extended The Architecture of the Arts District, an exhibit of models and original documents that tell the story of our cultural center's aesthetic evolution. Study what marks Pritxer-Prize winners like Norman Foster, Rem Koolhaas, I.M. Pei and Renzo Piano have made on the city from 9AM-5PM at the space, at no cost.

BABY SIPS: According to Whole Foods, there is such a thing as a beginner wine connoisseur. Looks as if Introduction to Wine Tasting: Big and Bold Reds is tailored for the communal-wine-study virgin, who's bought the fancy journal and the coffee table books with photos of wineries but has so far assumed people with like interests are way ahead of him or her. Attend this class, which costs $10, at the Richardson location. 6:30PM.
