11/6-11/7: Drink and Drive – Not You, NASCAR

WineFest and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series

WINE GALORE: Just because the taste of wine makes you giddy with delight, doesn’t make you a wino. Now, getting sloshed off the unlimited amount of samples at WineFest may mean something else. Sip on glasses of the vino from some of North Texas’ best wineries and vintners at WineFest 2010 benefitting the Cultural Arts of Dallas. The evening of intimate wine and food tasting also includes a silent auction and live music performed by Definitely Maybe. Visit the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison tonight from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. to take part in the wine celebration. Click here for tickets and more details.

START YOUR ENGINES: Let the racing begin this all weekend long ending on Sunday with the AAA Texas 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Texas Motor Speedway. With 43 drivers ready to take the lead, in hopes of earning race bragging rights and the series title, this will be one take-no-prisoners kind of race. Friday’s practice caused one Chevy to spin out of control on the speedway (read the deets here). And, don’t worry, the financial troubles of Richard Petty Motorsports will not affect their race participation. Keep an eye out for driver favorites Jeff Gordon and Danica Patrick revvin’ up. Be there for all the high-speed action and big name attendance when the NASCAR weekend of race events ends with a grand finale on Sunday at 2 p.m.

WOMACK ATTACK: Honky tonk is alive and well at the Fort Worth Stockyards, especially at Billy Bob’s. Tonight country-crossover hit and Texas native, Lee Ann Womack, sings a few ditties at the legendary venue. Womack, a Grammy-Award winning singer-songwriter constantly writing about some cheatin’ man, garnered pop success with her 2000 #1 single “I Hope You Dance.” She’s been off the music radar for a bit since her last studio album was released in 2008, but she has contributed her vocals to few fellow country performers’ tracks and to the 2010 film Country Song with the single “Liar’s Lie.” See Womack resurface at 10:30 p.m. at the stockyards.
