1/13: Feel Good Fun

Pastry Making, Casino Jack and Beer Pong Thursdays

JUST DESSERTS: The Central Market Cooking School is hosting an evening starring The Snap of Citrus in Desserts. Take home a few cooking tips from pastry chef, blogger and culinary leader extraordinaire David Lebovitz, author of “Living the Sweet Life in Paris,” as he teaches you how to partner sparkling champagne with goat cheese soufflés and perfect delectable citrus-filled pastries. The class starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Market on Lovers Lane. Seats are practically sold out, so reserve yours by clicking here. Tickets are $65.

YOU DON’T KNOW JACK: Kevin Spacey may have played a convincing "Casino Jack" on the big screen, but the real story about the man who stole headlines and tons of U.S. money is currently on the Magnolia Theatre screen. "Casino Jack and the United States of Money" is a documentary about Jack Abramoff who was a lobbyist and businessman involved in White House scandals. The documentary follows the story of how a young collegiate Republican rose to power. The first showing is at 11:45 a.m. and the last at 9:30 p.m.

RELIVE THE (COLLEGIATE) GLORY DAYS: Sometimes there are just games that shouldn’t be played after a certain age – beer pong is not one of them. If you’ve been reminiscing about the days your friends use to host beer pong tournaments during game days, well, tonight’s the night to relive that dream at O.E. Penguin in Dallas. Every Thursday, the “feel good bar” will now host Beer Pong Thursdays. Get your (drinking) game face on and channel your inner pong champion for a night of take no excuses beer chugging. The Deep Ellum joint closes at 2 a.m.
