11/25: Gobble, Gobble

Turkey trot, football and a long lost rapper

WALK IT OFF: Before you kick back, relax and enjoy a day full of football (catch the Cowboys vs. the Saints game) and turkey hording - take a break from the feast fest and hop your turkey legs on over to City Hall Plaza in Downtown Dallas for the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot. Benefitting the YMCA, the Turkey Trot has been a DFW tradition hailing back to the ‘40s when trotters took over the Old Fairgrounds. Take your pick between an 8-mile course for “super trotters” and a 5K run (that you can always walk through).  Get ready for the extra holiday pounds by burning some calories early on. The race begins at 9 a.m. and sign-up is available on-site.

FOOTBALL AND FOOD: Avoid the hours in the kitchen slaving over turkey, stuffing, yams and whatever else your family demands this holiday and let Humperdink’s do all the work – along with providing the games on the big screen. Order up a homemade Thanksgiving meal including dessert for $17.99 and for kids 12 and under $7.99 at any Humperdink’s location from 11 a.m. until midnight.

RAPPER’s DELIGHT: Not sure where he’s been, why I’m writing this, or, if anyone will care, but if you have a hankering for old school rap music (that was never really that great to begin with) stop by the House of Blues Dallas tonight for a performance by Mystikal. The rapper has been out of the game for a while (nearly a decade) with all of his legal troubles and all, regardless, the New Orleans native will be hitting the stage after the game performing a lot of old and bit of upcoming new tracks from his to be announced “The Shake Back” album. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Click here for tickets.
