10/6: Vampires, Fashion, and Vino

JUST ANOTHER BLOOD THIRSTY BAND: If the whole teenage vampire thing is old news, listen to a band that has the vampire title, is a bit older and has indie rock power on their side. Vampire Weekend performs at The Palladium Ballroom tonight at 8 p.m. The NYC-based, four member band formed in 2006 and released their first self-titled album in January 2008 – releasing hits like “Mansard Roof” and “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” (ranked 67th on Rolling Stone’s list of ‘100 Best Songs of the Year’).  They also earned some recognition from Spin magazine as “The Year’s Best New Band” in 2008. With compliments like that it’s no wonder they did it again with their second album “Contra” – released earlier this year. See Vampire Weekend in-person tonight as they pass through Dallas.

GIRLS GONE GLAM: Discount shopping while sipping on cocktails in a chic hotel – any girl’s “Sex and the City” dream. Live out that dream tonight at ALoft Hotel in Dallas as they host Sip & Shop. The plush experience started in Houston back in 2008 and has slowly been expanding throughout Texas and even to parts of California. The fashion event features the latest pieces from Dallas designers and some of the top fashion brands in the area all at discounted prices. With free giveaways at 6 p.m. and happy hour drink specials all night, this is one glamorous event not to be missed. Plus, it’s free if you register early (click here). Meet the girls at the WXYZ bar at 5:30 p.m. to begin your fashion extravaganza.

WINE AND DINE: Sample wine paired with some of the area’s finest food at 8th annual WineFest 2010 presented by The 500 Inc. The exquisite vino experience features a sorted collection of wine, from Texas and around the country. Along with the sipping and dining, there will be a silent auction and the whole night will be serenaded by Definitely Maybe. The WineFest will happen at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum and begins at 6:30 p.m.
