For many would-be superstars, today is the day. "American Idol" Season 9 auditions at Cowboys stadium have begun, and it's being reported that "Idol" officials estimate 10,000 people have filed into the complex.
If the world is right and fair, Denton English teacher Kimberly Carver will make it to the next round. Here, you can check in on Kim as she waits in line with her best friend Joy and a copy of "The Great Gatsby." (We're tracking Tweets tagged with #idoldfw, but Kimberly, diamond in the rough that she is, doesn't have mobile Internet capabilities.) So we're passing on her updates to you as she texts us:
4:46 a.m. I'm here about to get in line. People-watching is prime already.
5:37 a.m. Guy dressed like a chicken.
6:31 a.m. Doing crowd shots now.
7:20 a.m. Got my seat. Auditions about to begin.
8:30 a.m. Still doing crowd shots inside. Apparently we have no rhythm and can't follow directions as a Metroplex.
8:52 a.m. I'm probably going to be here for a few more hours at least.
8:55 a.m. First auditions beginning. Yay!
9:50 a.m. Eating, walking around, listening to people practice. Wow. This is fun!
11:17 a.m. Just got mooned full force. Gross.
12:06 p.m. People laying everywhere, singing, playing, laughing, sleeping. Not too many weirdos.
