Movie Review Roundup: Frost/Nixon, Doubt, and more

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around the multiplex, with holiday themed films and Oscar contenders flooding the screens. But are you sure you want to sit through a two-hour film about nuns and priests? Our movie review roundup will help!

Here's a video overview on what's debuting this weekend:

Frost/Nixon
It's pretty much an Oscar-baiting film, with Frank Langella's performance already getting a Golden Globe nom -- and expected to nab him a Best Actor nod, too -- but is Ron Howard's latest entertaining enough to sit through? John Meyer of Pegasus News says yes. (read his take)

Doubt
Another Oscar-baiter (that will likely spell gold for actress Meryl Streep) Doubt is the story of a priest accused of abusing a young student who goes toe-to-toe with a harsh authoritarian school principal/nun. Meyer (again of Pegasus News) liked it, but both Newsweek and Entertainment Weekly thought you should skip it...

Nothing Like The Holidays
Half holiday film, half race movie, Nothing Like The Holidays is nothing like the schlocky Christmas tie-in junk we're used to seeing (I blame Tim Allen); at least, everyone but the Village Voice thinks so.

The Day The Earth Stood Still
Here's our review: Watch the original, then buy this disc on Blu-ray when it arrives, if only for Jennifer Connolly.
