In a statement released Thursday, The Cliburn says they’re allowing Russian-born pianists to participate in their competition this summer.

Applications are open for the Third Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival taking place June 8-17, 2023 in Dallas.

The Cliburn received 388 applications from pianists from 51 countries, a 34% increase over the last edition in 2017.

For the first time in its almost 60-year history, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition has been postponed. The competition hosted in Fort Worth has been rescheduled to June 2022 from its original June 2021 date, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
