The Respect for Child Survivors Act aims to eradicate the failures that occurred during the USA Gymnastics-Larry Nassar scandal in 2015, which the FBI took an entire year to handle.

Approximately 90 young women filed federal tort claims against the FBI Wednesday seeking more than $1 billion in damages for the bureau’s alleged mishandling of its investigation into sexual abuse claims against former U.S. Olympic team doctor Larry Nassar.

Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles and dozens of other women who say they were sexually assaulted by Larry Nassar are seeking more than $1 billion from the FBI for failing to stop the now convicted sports doctor when the agency first received allegations against him, lawyers said Wednesday.

Thirteen sexual assault victims are seeking $10 million each from the FBI.
