Virgin Atlantic's Cabin Crew Gets a “Whispering Coach”

"The crew are now trained to whisper at tones between twenty and thirty decibels due to its calming effect and the fact that it won't disturb other passengers whilst lights are out," says new whispering coach

Do not disturb the Upper Class.

Virgin Atlantic plans to begin training flight crew on how to keep midair chatter to a whisper when making the rounds near the airline’s wealthiest customers.

The airline aims to tone down talking to between 20 and 30 decibels for passengers of the airline’s elite “Upper Class Dream Suite,” the U.K. Daily Telegraph reported.

"It is incredibly important that all Virgin Atlantic's cabin crew have their skills honed in order to provide the most comfortable experience possible for our passengers,” said Richard Fitzgerald, Virgin’s customer service training supervisor and new whispering coach.

According to the Telegraph, Virgin Atlantic flight crew will be trained on the optimal “tone, volume and sentiment” and learn how to “read” the passenger.

Upper Class travelers can expect a “calming effect” when the Richard Branson-owned airline debuts its “Dream Suite” in April, Fitzgerald said.

Virgin said it boasts the "largest and most comfortable beds in the sky," though the "Dream" digs don't come cheap.

Flights from London to New York cost around £6,000 ($9,510) per person.
