Officer on Leave After Cat Shot With Crossbow

A South Texas police officer has been put on administrative leave after being charged with shooting a neighbor's cat with an arrow.

Police in Boerne said Officer Lance Deleon was not on duty when Bobby the cat was wounded.

Boerne Chief of Police Jim Kohler said the cat was shot using a crossbow.

Officials with South Texas Veterinary Specialists said the 2-year-old male cat has been treated for a punctured lung and broken front right leg.

Vets said Bobby is expected to make a full recovery.

Meanwhile, Deleon was charged with animal cruelty and freed Wednesday after posting $2,000 bail.

Deleon has declined comment to The Associated Press.

Boerne is 25 miles northwest of San Antonio.
