She was on a booster seat, and wondered why she was pulled over

A 9-year-old suburban Detroit girl pulled over while driving her drunk dad home was doing a pretty good job by all accounts.

Cops in Brownstown got a call from a witness who saw the girl pulling a van out of a gas station at 3 a.m. Saturday, according to msnbc.com.

โ€œA 7-year-old is driving it and her dad is drunk and he's in the passenger side,โ€ the caller told a 911 dispatcher as he followed the van down West Road in the small community of Brownstown Township.

โ€œSheโ€™s got her turn signal on," he continued. "Sheโ€™s turning right. Sheโ€™s driving pretty good, Iโ€™m telling you, I canโ€™t believe it."

The kid turned out to be 9, and when police pulled her over, she was sitting up on a booster seat behind the wheel.

โ€œShe looks at the uniformed police officer, and says โ€˜What did you stop me for? I was driving good,โ€™" Detective Lt. Robert Grant said. "Absolutely incredible.โ€

The child, who was not identified, told police that her father had been drinking all night when he decided to take them out for a drive, police said. He later asked the girl to drive.
