The bodies of at least 15 horses have been removed from a Central Texas creek as cleanup continues from late October storms and flooding.
The Austin American-Statesman reported Sunday that the horses apparently were swept away as Onion Creek crested at more than 40 feet.
Officials with Austin Resource Recovery said three more carcasses were recovered Thursday along the creek.
The first horse body was located shortly after the flooding that lingered into early November. Austin authorities picked up more carcasses in mid-January after residents reported smelling rotted flesh.
Officials believe many of the horses belonged to residents near Onion Creek.
At least six people died in the fall flooding in Central Texas.
