Man Pleads Guilty in Deer Semen Case

Semen came from deer in East Texas that was illegally transported out of state

An Illinois man has pleaded guilty to illegally obtaining whitetail deer semen valued at $55,000.

U.S. Attorney John M. Bales said the semen came from a buck in East Texas that Raymond Favero knew had been illegally transported from out of state. The 55-year-old Braidwood, Ill., man entered his guilty plea Wednesday in a federal court in Tyler.

If the court accepts his plea agreement, Favero would be placed on five years' probation, fined $150,000 payable to a U.S. Fish & Wildlife reward fund and ordered to pay $50,000 in restitution to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
