Man Convicted of Murder During Cowboys Game

A 26-year-old Midland man has been convicted of felony murder for the fatal shooting of a man as they watched a Dallas Cowboys game on TV in 2011 and argued over drugs.

Christopher Marchel Hill faces up to life in prison as the punishment phase of his trial was beginning Tuesday in Midland. A jury deliberated about two hours Monday before returning a guilty verdict.

Hill was accused of shooting 28-year-old Jeremy Johnson.  Hill had fled with his girlfriend and was arrested 11 days later in Sanford, Fla.

Witnesses testified Hill left the house after an argument and then returned and shot Johnson three times.  Hill testified last week the shooting was in self-defense and the argument was over who had a better supply of crack cocaine.
