Some stashed cash -- nearly $306,000 -- has turned up in a car heading from Texas into Mexico.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Laredo Port of Entry seized the undeclared currency during an outbound examination.
Customs officials on Tuesday announced the money was found Saturday in a car searched by officers at the Lincoln-Juarez Bridge. Authorities found 41 bundles of cash hidden within the 2006 Acura.
Officials say a 19-year-old man from Laredo has been detained.
Cash being carried into and out of the U.S. must be declared if the amount is $10,000 or higher.
