Cemetery Vandals Taunt Karma

Old headstone damaged, bad juju attracted

Some fool or fools in Weatherford decided that knocking off part of a headstone in Greenwood Cemetery would be great fun. He, she, or they might find out that fun belongs to the spirits.

The headstone, according to Weatherford police, dates back to 1803. The top section was knocked off, and it damaged the wrought iron fence surrounding the gravesite.

The spirits certainly began plotting revenge on impact.

Not that I’m superstitious or anything, but it’s just not a good idea to walk across a grave much less vandalize a headstone. That’s bad juju, man.

It’s also not very bright to bring down the Weatherford police and entire Parker County community, and have a $1,000 bounty put on your head, which is the reward now offered by Parker County Crime Stoppers. Call (817) 599-5555 or (800) 942-STOP — translated, that’s (800) 942-7867 — to narc out the ghoulies and help close the karmic circle.

Happy Halloween, grave desecraters, hope that moment of exhilaration was worth the turmoil you’re about to experience.

Bruce Felps owns and operates East Dallas Times, an online community news outlet serving the White Rock Lake area. No, he’s not superstitious at all. Nope, not a bit.
