Burglars Shout “Police” While Breaking Into Houston Officer's Home

A Houston police officer has been injured after exchanging gunfire with two men who broke into his home -- after shouting "Police!" at his front door.

Harris County sheriff's deputies say the officer heard two men around 10 p.m. Thursday hit his door, shout "Police!" and enter his home.

Deputies tell KTRK-TV that one of the suspects shot at the officer, hitting him in the leg. The officer fired back, and the two men eventually fled.

The officer was hospitalized, but is expected to fully recover.

The suspects remain at large.
