Baby Found in Room Surrounded by Marijuana, Police Say

A couple is accused of using a 3-week-old baby’s room as part of an illegal marijuana grow-house operation.

A Florida couple has been arrested for allegedly operating a pot grow house where loose marijuana was found in their 3-week-old baby’s room, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office told WFTS-TV in Tampa.

Acting on a tip, police went to the couple’s Plant City home on April 13 and seized 37 hydroponic plants weighing approximately 20 pounds and valued at $60,000, the TV station reported.

Police said they recognized a “strong odor of marijuana” upon arrival and found a baby surrounded by weed.

A sheriff’s report said the arrested couple had been storing “loose marijuana in a three week old child’s room.” Child Protective Services removed the infant from the house, WFTS reported.

Christopher Holbrooks, 30, and Angela Holbrooks, 34, reportedly face charges including manufacture of marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession for purpose of manufacturing and possession of drug paraphernalia.
