Surveillance video shows man stealing package from front porch

A Frisco couple has posted online a video of someone stealing a package from their front steps in hopes of finding the thief.

Mavanee Walker checked her home security system after an online order was several days late.

"I've had packages delivered to my house for as long as I can remember," she said.

Walker said she was shocked to see surveillance video of someone stealing the the box, which contained an iPad case.

"I had to watch it over and over and over," she said.

Walker and her boyfriend posted the surveillance recording on YouTube. The video received more than 30,000 hits within the first day or two.

Walker's cameras record when they detect motion. The footage shows a delivery man walking up to her door carrying the parcel. The cameras kicked in again about 50 minutes later. The video shows what appears to be a young man with a basketball underneath his arm walk up her front steps, nestle the package underneath the basketball and hurry away.

She and and her boyfriend have filed a police report on the theft.

"The police officer told us there had been several calls in the past week -- literally right around us," she said.

Walker said she is upset about losing the box but hopes to raise awareness among her neighbors.

"Crime doesn't have an address," she said. "It does happen; I just didn't think it would happen to us."

Walker said she intends to have several more cameras installed in the near future.

The incident is still under investigation.
