Yu Named Rangers Pitcher of the Year

Yu Darvish didn't pitch for what amounted two whole months of the season in 2014 after starting the year on the disabled list and then hitting the DL in early August and never pitching again last season.

Yet, the Rangers' ace's accomplishments were still enough to earn him Rangers Pitcher of the Year, given by the local chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Darvish finished his season with a 10-7 record and a 3.06 ERA with 182 strikeouts in 144 1/3 innings pitched, behind the Rangers' innings leader, Colby Lewis.

Darvish was shut down with elbow inflammation, but after an MRI last week, he was cleared to begin a throwing program and is on schedule to be ready to roll by the beginning of spring training.
