The Texas Rangers and Michael Young began to patch their wounds last month when the longtime Ranger came back to Arlington to announce his retirement at Rangers Ballpark after a somewhat bitter divorce from the club led to him playing for the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers in 2013.
Now, Young will make his first official club appearance since then when he is set to be the featured guest at the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation's first Evening With a Legend of the Year on April 11.
The dinner at Globe Life Park will honor Young and give people the opportunity to get an autographed baseball and a photo taken with Young for the hefty price of $500 per couple, which benefits the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.
There will also be a Q&A session with Young, who seems well on his way to being involved with the Rangers organization again in some kind of front office capacity eventually. Paid diners will also receive tickets to that evening's game against the Houston Astros.
Young is the Rangers' all-time leader in games, at-bats, runs, hits, doubles, triples, and total bases. He played all four infield positions during his tenure in a Texas uniform from 2000-12. He was a seven-time All-Star selection and won an All-Star Game MVP award. He finished his career with a .300 average in 1,970 games.
