Michael Young knows a little something about playing second base for the Texas Rangers, doing it well, and doing it for a long time.
For years, we heard all about how great Jurickson Profar was and how he was a can't-miss prospect in the Rangers' system. Of course, so far, anyway, he's been nothing but a miss. In the meantime, a younger Rougned Odor has taken the bull by the horns and forced his way into the conversation of being the Rangers' long-term option at second base.
In an interview with the Musers on KTCK 1310 The Ticket Wednesday morning, Young, who is now a special assistant to the GM, raved about Odor and what he brings to the table.

I don't have exact quotes for you, but if you were listening, you know what I'm talking about. He said — paraphrasing — that he isn't one to heap praise on a 21-year-old kid, and you can totally see that about Young. But he did just that with Odor, which is really encouraging for Rangers fans, who saw that sharp edge and gritty toughness of Odor in his rookie year last season, when in actuality, he should've been in Double-A for the entire season.
The game never looked too big for Odor, and that was evident. Obviously, Young and the Rangers front office have seen the same thing, and see Odor as a building block for the future.
