If anyone knows what it takes to be an all-star caliber baseball player for more than a decade, it's Rangers front office man Michael Young, who is the club's all-time leader in several offensive categories and now serves in a special assistant to the GM role.

In a podcast with the Dallas Morning News this week, Young sounded off about the newest hot prospect in the Rangers' organization in kid outfielder Nomar Mazara, who ended last year at Triple-A and saw more success at that level than Joey Gallo did even though he didn't hit the majors like Gallo did.

Mazara is seen as the Rangers' left fielder of the future with that position being the biggest hole on the current roster, especially if you don't trust Josh Hamilton to stay healthy. And Young can't wait for more people to get to see the youngster.

"I'm looking forward to people seeing Nomar Mazara," Young told Evan Grant and Barry Horn on the DMN's Rangers podcast. "This guy can flat-out hit. I mean, I'm talking — not just hit — I'm talking impact, big-time run producer in the game. Great kid. Has the ability to be a clubhouse leader, a big positive-impact guy. Man, he's a stud. I can't wait for people to see him."

Does that get your blood moving if you're a Rangers fan? It should.

Young went on to say he believes Mazara will see a promotion to Arlington at some point this season.

"Absolutely. No question about that. Now, it's a matter of fit. Like you said, we do have some left-handed bats. We have Delino (DeShields), who is a fantastic young player. What if (Shin-Soo) Choo is out there doing his thing like he did in the second half and Josh (Hamilton) is playing like a healthy Josh can do, now it's a matter of fit. But ability wise, and I'm sure production wise, he'll be banging down the door."

Get ready, Rangers fans. And get ready to go out and get your Mazara T-shirts.
