Michael Young missed his first game of the season on Wednesday, after tweaking his back in Tuesday’s throttling of the Red Sox, but he’s expected to be back tonight as the Rangers open up a series with the Tigers in Detroit.
Young said that his sitting out in the finale of the short, two-game series with Boston last night was mostly a precautionary measure, but one that he might not have so readily taken earlier in his career.
"After 12 years, I'm finally listening to the training staff," he said, per the Dallas Morning News. "By [Thursday] I should be ready to go. If I push it, it may end up being a 3-4 day thing."
To be sure, it’s worth hoping that Young returns as soon as possible. He was able to carry an incredibly hot spring into the regular season, and is currently hitting .378 with two home runs and 10 RBIs.
