Witten Thinks Romo “Will Bring us a Championship”

Jason Witten is as confident as ever in his friend and quarterback Tony Romo

Cowboys tight end Jason Witten is a fan of Johnny Manziel, but he believes Dallas did the right thing by passing him over in the draft two weeks ago.

Witten recently said he never thought the Cowboys would draft Manziel, but he admits that when the 2012 Heisman winner fell to the team at No. 16 in the first round, he--like the rest of us, it seems--couldn’t help but wonder. Of course, Dallas went with offensive lineman Zack Martin--a pick Witten has praised--and afterward, Jerry Jones told reporters he never really considered taking the former Texas A&M star, because his confidence in Tony Romo is as high as ever.

Ditto for Witten, who still believes his pal Romo is fully capable of leading the Cowboys to the Super Bowl.

“I think [Manziel]’s a good player and he’ll have a lot of success in this league,” Witten said, via the Dallas Morning News, “but I think for us and the commitment to Tony, I’ve said it throughout our entire careers, I think he’s an elite quarterback and he’s going to bring us a championship here.”
