With Appeal Ruling, Panthers Eligible for Compensatory Pick for Hardy

Greg Hardy's suspension was reduced from 10 games to 4 games last week

The Dallas Cowboys aren’t the only team who stand to benefit from Friday’s ruling that Greg Hardy’s suspension would be reduced from 10 games to four games.

The Carolina Panthers are eligible to receive a third round compensatory pick in 2016 if Hardy appears in 10 games next season, according to ESPN.

Obviously, had the original length of the suspension been upheld, this would have been impossible. He would’ve only been eligible to play in six regular season games. Now, he’s eligible for 12.

The Panthers would get the compensatory pick because they paid Hardy $13.1 million last year when he appeared in one game, the opener, before heading to the Commissioner’s Exempt List. There he stayed, but he received his game checks uninterrupted. The Cowboys signed him to a one-year deal worth $11.3 million in March.

Meanwhile, there’s been no word as of yet whether Hardy will accept the reduction and just be done with it, or continue to fight. One report before the ruling came down suggested Hardy would continue to fight any suspension longer than two games.
