Who’s On, Who’s Not?: July 22

In a weekly staple, we'll discuss who's in a groove and who's in a rut for the Texas Rangers.

Who's On?

Shin-Soo Choo — Choo has played in three games since the all-star break, two of which were starts and the third coming in a pinch-hit appearance. His line? How about a robust .750 batting average (6-for-8) with a double, triple, homer and four RBIs, thanks in large part to his game Tuesday night in which he hit for the cycle.

Delino DeShields — The Rangers' leadoff hitter has two doubles and a triple in his last five games to go with his .348 batting average over that time. DeShields has been a major spark for the Rangers' offense for quite some time now and has basically run away (pun intended) with the Rangers' top rookie honors.

Rougned Odor — The Rangers' newly solidified No. 2 hitter has been on a rampage since his return from the minor leagues last month. Odor is batting .375 with two doubles, two triples and a homer to go with his four RBIs over his past five games.

Who's Off?

Tanner Scheppers — Scheppers has combined to work just one inning over his last two appearances, and it hasn't gone well. The former elite setup man has allowed five hits and a walk, resulting in three runs (two earned) over those two games. He has no strikeouts.

Ryan Rua — Shin-Soo Choo has been great against right-handed pitching, and has been sitting against lefties in favor of Rua. But that platoon might end very soon, as Choo has been scorching and Rua has one hit and four strikeouts in his three games since the all-star break.
