Wentz Goes to Dallas at No. 4 in McShay's Second Mock Draft

Carson Wentz spent last week working with Jason Garrett and the Cowboys staff at the Senior Bowl

The draft stock of North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz was still rising as of last week’s Senior Bowl practices, and now, ESPN draft expert Todd McShay has Wentz going to the Cowboys at No. 4 overall in his latest mock.

It’s McShay’s second mock draft of the season. In his first, he had the Cowboys taking Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith at that spot.

Of course, the Cowboys are in need of both a solid backup quarterback and an heir apparent to Tony Romo, and Jerry Jones has said the best case scenario in his mind would involve bringing someone in who can fill both roles. Meanwhile, Wentz spent all last week working with the Cowboys’ staff at the Senior Bowl, where Jason Garrett and his staff coached the North side.

"He was good," Wentz said of Garrett, per the Dallas Morning News. "Just talking with him and all the coaches, you can just tell that they're very smart. They know the game. Being around guys like that is just going to benefit me going forward."
