Washington Win Means Another Week on Active Roster for Romo

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett confirmed Tuesday that Monday night’s victory over the Washington Redskins means at least another week on the active roster for injured starting quarterback Tony Romo.

“No change in that plan,” Garrett told the team’s official website.

This doesn’t come as any huge surprise, as the Cowboys have publicly stated that they intend to keep Romo on the active roster until they’re officially eliminated from playoff contention—and in this NFC East, it’s looking like it’ll come down to the wire.

The win Monday put the Cowboys just a game back of the Redskins, the Giants and the Eagles, who are in a three-way tie for first at 5-7 a piece.

“Well, the reason we have not put him on IR is because of the timing of his injury,” Garrett said. “We say whatever it is, eight weeks, there is still season left, so we’ll play that situation out. But we’re all behind Matt and what he’s going to do for our team and we’ll see what happens if we get to that point.”
