Washington: Nolan Ryan Dead On In Hamilton Comments

Ryan discussed Josh Hamilton's recent struggles at great length in a radio appearance on Monday

On Monday, Rangers’ president and CEO caused some waves when he appeared on ESPN Radio 103.3 FM’s “Galloway and Company” and said, more or less, what everyone already knew. That Josh Hamilton was playing pretty poorly, that he was giving away at-bats and so forth.

Because Ryan is who he is and because Hamilton is who he is, it made news (the ESPN crawler!), but anyone who has watched Hamilton over the past couple of months would be hard-pressed to argue against what Ryan said.

This group includes Hamilton’s manager, Ron Washington--who, in an appearance on the aforementioned radio station’s “Ben & Skin Show” on Wednesday, said that the team president was dead on in his assessment.

"A lot of people see things, but they're afraid to say it," Washington said, via ESPN Dallas. "That's a fact. He has to stop giving away at-bats, get a little patient, bring the balls in the zone. That's a fact. That's not something someone is making up. That is the fact. Nolan sees it, I see it. Everyone else see(s) it, they just don't say it."
