Tony Romo: Cowboys Have to Start Over

Dallas made some significant strides in 2014, including their first division championship since 2009

The Dallas Cowboys made some significant strides in 2014.

After three consecutive 8-8 seasons with no postseason to speak of, Jason Garrett led the team to a surprising 12-4 finish, an NFC East Championship and the team’s first playoff win since 2009. They were arguably a call away from advancing over the Packers to the NFC East Championship.

But quarterback Tony Romo knows the team can’t simply ride that wave of positive steps into 2015. To some degree, at least, they have to start all over.

"I think we're a better football team right now," Romo said recently, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. "At the same point, you've got to start over. To me, you just can't try and just recreate what you had. You're going to be a different team in certain areas. Each guy has to commit himself to being a better version of himself than he was the year before. If everybody does that, you'll come back as a whole better team than you were."
