Tolleson Making Progress in Rehab

Shawn Tolleson was one of the Rangers' unsung MVPs last season.

After he took over the closer's role from Neftali Feliz in May, he led the majors in saves from that point and blew just two on the season. In fact, he even crept into the Cy Young voting, finishing 10th in the American League.

But there's still some uncertainty as to what role Tolleson will play in the Rangers' loaded bullpen in 2016, though it's expected he'll at least begin the year as the team's closer after his fantastic 2015 season.

But he's yet to pitch in a Cactus League game as he's dealt with lower back stiffness. On Thursday, he threw a bullpen session with no reported difficulty. If Tolleson doesn't make his first game appearance relatively soon, he could end up getting behind schedule in his ramping up to the season, though his role as a reliever means he'll need less work than a starter would.
