Three Phases: Cowboys-Redskins

Every week, we'll grade the Cowboys on the three phases of the weekend's game.

Offense: C

The only thing saving this from being an F is the fact that Matt Cassel finally found a way to connect with Dez Bryant in the fourth quarter. Other than that, it was an awful outing. They turned the ball over three times, and Cassel missed a wide-open Bryant several times in the first three quarters, during which time Bryant was shut out and rightfully upset about it.

Defense: B

The only thing saving this from being an A, thanks to a tremendous game from Sean Lee, was the fact they failed once again to close things out late in a game. After it looked like the Cowboys had won the game with a touchdown in the final minutes, the Redskins drove down the field with ease to tie the game with about 30 seconds left on a deep ball to Desean Jackson.

Special teams: A

The only thing stopping this from being a shining A+ was the fact they allowed a big kickoff return following Darren McFadden's touchdown run to set up the game-tying touchdown to Jackson. Other than that, the unit shined. Dan Bailey, of course, hit the game winner from 54 yards out. Chris Jones was great again and even recovered Jackson's fumble to set up McFadden's touchdown run, and Lucky Whitehead's big kickoff return set up Bailey's game-winning kick.
