Three Phases: Cowboys-Jets

Every week, we'll grade the Cowboys on the three phases of the weekend's game.

Offense: C

Turnovers, man. The Cowboys gave the ball away four times — all interceptions, three coming from backup quarterback/savior Kellen Moore. As bad as Moore was, it was clear he had a better grasp of the Cowboys' offense than Matt Cassel and seemed to drive the ship more efficiently. He also figured out that if you throw the ball to Dez Bryant, good things will happen more often than not. The biggest bright spot was Darren McFadden once again having a tremendous game with 100 yards on 16 carries, leaving him just a few yards shy of a 1,000-yard season.

Defense: B-

The Cowboys stuffed the running game after being exposed by Green Bay last week. Bruising back Chris Ivory was held to just 37 yards on 13 carries. They also did a decent job of holding down the Jets' passing game and pressured Ryan Fitzpatrick thanks to another big game from DeMarcus Lawrence. But once again, the defense couldn't close out a game as they allowed the game-winning field goal with 40 seconds left after the Cowboys had tied the game with 2 minutes left.

Special teams: B

Not really a lot to say here — good or bad. It's becoming automatic that Dan Bailey never misses (3-for-3 on field goals, 1-for-1 on extra points) and Chris Jones punts the hell out of the ball (49.5 yards per punt).
