When you talk about disappointing teams in baseball over the season's first half, the conversation can pretty much begin with the Rangers' AL West opponents in Seattle and their opponent coming to town for the weekend from San Diego.

Both teams made massive overhauls to their offense over the winter, and both teams have seen that not amount to much as they're well below .500 and struggling to stay out of last place in their respective divisions.

The Padres come to town this weekend with a lineup that is probably worse off than the Rangers' stagnant offense at the moment, and it's all because those big acquisitions aren't producing.

Justin Upton has three hits in his last 30 at-bats, and Matt Kemp isn't going much better. They've dropped 16 of their last 23 games due in part to the fact that their lineup is batting just .215 over that time. They've averaged less than 3 runs per game in that time.

The Rangers are catching this team at the right time, and they need to take advantage of it.
