HS Hakas Battle at JerryWorld

Euless Trinity, Bingham (Utah) will try to "out-smashmouth" each other at JerryWorld

I can't deny, the Week 1 Game of the Week has just as much to do with the stage and the venue as it does the teams playing in it, but when Euless Trinity and Bingham (Utah) take the field Monday morning at the new Cowboys Stadium, it will mark the first high school football game at the $1.15 billion monstrosity that Jerry Jones built with his Jerry Jones money.

But anyway, we all know now about the huge JerryVision and all the other amenities the new stadium boasts, so let's focus on the game.

Trinity has won two state championships since 2005 under head coach Steve Lineweaver and behind a power rushing attack and in-your-face defense. Bingham has won state titles in Utah (advantage Trinity) and also has a high Samoan/Tongan representation like Trinity. There's even a pre-game haka.

With two Haka-wielding teams, the pre-game ceremonies could resemble a big-time rugby match like this one between New Zealand and Tonga.

If that's not enough to intimidate you, I don't know what is.

Apparently, they were even considering doing a routine together, but I think opposing Hakas is a better idea.

Trinity hasn't hit the field yet, but is ranked No. 4 in the state in the latest Class 5A Associated Press poll.
