TCU's Hughes Named Player of the Week

DE Gets 2 Sacks in TCU Victory

TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes has been named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 44-14 win at UNLV.

It's the third time this season that Hughes has received the MWC's weekly honor.

Hughes had two sacks to extend his nation-leading total to 14.

No other player in the country has more than 11 sacks.

Hughes also leads the nation with 17 tackles for loss while tying for the top spot with five forced fumbles.

He also has three fumble recoveries to go with two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.

In addition to his two sacks against the Rebels, Hughes had a forced fumble.

He also deflected a pass which led to a Robert Henson interception.

TCU (9-1, 6-0) takes a five-game winning streak into their game at No. 10 Utah on Thursday night, a potential showdown for first place in Mountain West Conference.
