TCU Looks for First Ever Win at Kansas

Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Tuesday

If TCU plans on dancing in March, the Frogs will need to get back into the kind of groove that led them to a Top 25 ranking earlier this season. TCU has lost six of their last nine games and are now considered to be barely in the bubble conversation for the NCAA tournament next month. The good news is there’s still time for the Frogs to put together a run and earn a spot in the Big Dance.

However, the road that is the Big 12 basketball schedule isn’t easy and a tough test awaits on Tuesday night in a place they’ve never won at.

The Frogs hit the road to face No. 10 Kansas, looking for their first-ever win at the famous Allen Fieldhouse.  TCU is 2-3 in Big 12 road games this season and are also looking for their first win on the road over a ranked team since 1998. The Frogs are 1-77 all-time on the road against teams in the Top 25. The last time these two met, Kansas beat TCU 88-84 in Fort Worth last month.

However, Kansas may be vulnerable on their home court this season. The Jayhawks have lost three games at Allen Fieldhouse, including a five-point loss to Oklahoma State over the weekend.  TCU is 3-0 on Tuesday’s this season and a total of 7-0 under head coach Jamie Dixon.

Since losing guard Jaylen Fisher to season-ending knee surgery, junior guard Alex Robinson has moved into a bigger role. Robinson is averaging 11.8 points and 8.5 assists over the last five games.  That’s a step up from the first 17 games of the season where he averaged 11.8 points and 4.9 assists for the Frogs.

TCU has been one of the best shooting teams in the nation all season. The Frogs have eight players who have made 10 or more three-pointers so far in 2017-18. TCU ranks second in the Big 12 and ninth in the NCAA in scoring offense, averaging 85.8 points per game and currently lead the conference in assists with 19.7.

Kansas is led by Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year, Devonte Graham, whose 17.2 points per game rank third and 7.5 assists rank second in the Big 12. The Jayhawks lead the all-time series at 15-2, which includes a 6-0 advantage in Lawrence, Kansas.
