TCU Goes for Regular Season Sweep of No. 19 West Virginia

TCU needs another big win if they want a shot at the Big Dance next month and the opportunity to make a statement on the road awaits them on Monday night.

The Frogs will go for the regular season sweep of No. 19 West Virginia when the two teams face off in Morgantown.  TCU beat the Mountaineers last month in Fort Worth. Guard Alex Robinson had a team-high 17 points and nine assists in the win.

At the moment, TCU is on the NCAA bubble when it comes to tournament talk. The Frogs are 17-8 (5-7 in Big 12) but are backed by a strong RPI (24th). The conventional feeling is TCU will need to finish with seven to eight Big 12 wins in order to feel good about an at-large bid.

However, the road has been difficult for TCU this season. The Frogs are 2-4 away from Schollmaier Arena and have not beaten a ranked team on the road since the 1998. Meanwhile, West Virginia is 11-3 at home, including 4-2 in Big 12 games.

The Mountaineers are led by one of the best guards in the nation. Senior Jevon Carter is averaging 17. 2 points and 6.7 assists per game this season. He scored 33 points in Saturday’s home loss to Oklahoma State.

West Virginia is 11-1 all-time in the series with TCU, including an unbeaten 5-0 record at home in Morgantown.
