Things were looking pretty grimm on Sunday afternoon for the Texas Rangers, and no pun intended.
In his first outing since surrendering eight runs in less than two innings against the Boston Red Sox, Justin Grimm had another bad inning, seeing a scorless game quickly turn into a 4-0 deficit in the third game of a three-game set in Toronto against the below-.500 Blue Jays.
After the Rangers' bullpen worked more than 10 innings in Saturday's 18-inning loss, the last thing Grimm needed to do was leave the game early again, but he fought back and kept the Blue Jays at bay, allowing his offense to scratch together some runs.
And they did just that behind homers from Nelson Cruz, Adrian Beltre and David Murphy before Joe Nathan got out of some early trouble in the bottom of the ninth inning to lock down a save and help the Rangers avoid a sweep just a week into their 20 games in 20 days stretch against some really good baseball teams.
Now, the Rangers get to come home to a nice 11-game homestand against the Indians, Blue Jays and a huge four-game series against the A's, and Sunday's comeback victory is a great way to return home.
