Study Says Cowboys Fans Are the Best in Football

Two Emory University professors recently did a study to determine the best fans in football

More than once in recent years, we’ve heard players wonder aloud about the lack of any real homefield advantage at AT&T Stadium. Considering, the results of a recent study by a pair of Emory University professors might come as a bit of a surprise--but a happy surprise, for Dallas fans: The study finds that the Cowboys have the best fans in football.

So sayeth the aforementioned professors, Manish Tripathi and Mike Lewis.

“In terms of the nuts and bolts of what we are about to present, we use fifteen years of data on NFL team performance, ticket prices, market populations, median incomes, won-loss records and multiple other factors,” Tripathi wrote of the study. “We create statistical models of box office revenue, and then see which teams over- and under- perform the model’s predictions.”

Apparently, the Cowboys over-performed the model more than any other team. This year, anyway.

“The winner this year is the Dallas Cowboys followed by the Patriots, Giants, Ravens, and Jets,” he writes. “The Cowboys have a storied history, a market that loves all forms of football, and a world-class stadium.”
