Stephen Jones on Dez: “If He Can Play, He’ll Play”

There seems to be no reason to believe Dez Bryant will play in the season finale against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, but the Cowboys aren’t ready to rule him out.

Bryant was inactive for Sunday’s 16-6 loss to the Bills, and actually didn’t even make the trip to Buffalo as the result of nagging foot and ankle issues. He has struggled with these for most of the season, but Sunday marked the first game he’s missed since returning from a fractured foot on November 1.

Which is to say, the way things are trending, we wouldn’t bet on 88 being out there on Sunday.

But the Cowboys aren’t taking anything for granted.

If he can play, he'll play, but if he can't then he won’t,” said Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones, per ESPN Dallas. “Certainly not worth putting him out there if he's not healthy. Dez has worked hard this year to get back and play and I know he's played through some injuries. We'll just evaluate that as the week goes just like we did this week.”
