Staubach Throws Fastball for First Pitch

Roger Staubach's pitch impressed Nolan Ryan.

Staubach, the two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, threw out the first pitch at the Texas Rangers' season opener Monday. Staubach threw a fastball over the plate.

Ryan, a Hall of Fame pitcher who's now the Rangers' president, says it was one of the "best first pitches" he's ever seen and believes Staubach "holding back."

Staubach was a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback at Navy and also played baseball. He was a starting outfielder and part-time relief pitcher.

Staubach is chairman of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee. North Texas will play host to its first Super Bowl in February at Cowboys Stadium, located next to Rangers Ballpark.

Solded Out Crowd

The Texas Rangers announced this morning that Monday's 2010 home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays was a complete sellout.

The last standing room tickets were sold Monday morning.

This marks the 14th consecutive year that the Rangers have had a sellout crowd on opening day.
