Stars Were Optimistic About Seguin Playing in Western Conference Final

Tyler Seguin missed all but a game of the playoffs with achilles and calf injuries

When Dallas Stars All-Star center Tyler Seguin returned to the ice for Game 2 of the opening round of the playoffs after missing about a month with a cut achilles, only to get hurt in that victory over the Wild, it was widely assumed the injury had something to do with the original achilles injury.

Stars coach Lindy Ruff insisted it wasn’t the achilles, but refused to say much else of course, because hockey. As it turns out, it was a calf that was holding Seguin back.

According to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News, the Stars were hopeful Seguin would have been available for the Western Conference Final, had they advanced to it.

As it happened, the Game 2 win over the Wild would be Seguin’s only taste of playoff action in 2016.
