Southlake Football Star in Critical Condition

Bryce Saldi hospitalized in LA after skateboarding accident.

Former Southlake Carroll football star Bryce Saldi is in critical condition at Loma Linda Medical Center near Los Angeles according to theStar-Telegram.

Saldi suffered a severe brain injury July 3 in a skateboarding accident.

Bryce's father Jay Saldi said doctors have told him that strong, young people such as Bryce, 20, are the most likely to recover from these types of injuries. "We're just praying for the best," he said.

Bryce's father played for tight end for Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears during the 1970s and 1980s.

His mother, Brenda said, "Bryce's injury will take time to heal and everyone here is committed to his recovery process."

Friends and family have set up a fund to help the family that has mounting medical expenses.

To contribute, visit the Bank of America branch at 3100 Southlake Blvd. or the North Richland Hills location, 8612 Davis Blvd. The fund is in the name of Bryce's parents, Jay and Brenda Saldi.
