Southlake Carroll Ranked in Baseball America Preseason Poll

One North Texas team made the list in Baseball America’s High School Baseball Preseason Top 50 Poll.

Southlake Carroll is ranked No. 34 in the preseason poll.  The Dragons finished last year with a 32-11-1 record and a trip to the 6A state semifinal.

Carroll has six starters returning, including senior outfielder/pitcher Adam Stephenson. The Wichita State commit hit .436 and scored 33 runs last season. The pitching staff will be anchored by junior Cutter Sippel. The junior went 10-0 with 83 strikeouts, earning All-State honors. Sippel is a TCU commit.

Four other Texas teams were named to the preseason poll - San Antonio Reagan, Dear Park, Port Neches-Groves, and Amarillo.

Shawnee (OK) High is picked as the preseason No.1 team in the nation. The Wolves finished the 2017 season with a perfect 40-0 record and a third consecutive Oklahoma 5-A state championship. Shawnee returns 14 players from last year’s team.

The teams are selected through a poll of representatives from the Baseball Coaches Association (BCA) and Baseball America.
