Dallas Cowboys All-Time Sacks Leader and newly minted Super Bowl champion DeMarcus Ware was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night, because that’s the sort of thing you get to do when you’re a newly minted Super Bowl champ.
While there Ware mentioned a quarterback who let out a funny squeaking noise when he hit him in a game several years back, but wouldn’t identify the QB by name. Kimmel asked point blank if it was Tony Romo, in practice, when Ware was with the Cowboys, but Ware said no.
So who was it?
Well, the good folks at the Dallas Morning News took the clues Ware gave (No. 18, in royal blue, hit from the back, several years ago) and consulted the film, and came up with the answer: It was Ware’s current teammate, Peyton Manning.
Ware came off the end and absolutely blasted Manning in the back in a game between the Cowboys and Colts back in 2006. You can see video of the hit here.
Meanwhile, we can only hope this is just the beginning of a press tour for Ware that will mostly involve him revealing what sounds different quarterbacks make when you hit them.
